Bridlington Squash Club Constitution
1. Name
The name of the organization shall be Bridlington Squash Club and referred to as Club herein.
2. Aims & Objectives
The aims of The Club will be:
To develop and promote the playing of squash in Bridlington and surrounding areas by providing players of all levels the opportunity to play competitive squash in both individual and team events at a reasonable cost and at the same time enjoy the social side of the sport.
To work with Bridlington Leisure Centre and participate in promoting squash whenever possible. (Mini Leagues, Local Leagues & Coaching).
A non-profit making organization.
A minimal membership fee will be charged, on a yearly basis, to cover costs.
To accept sponsorship, and all monies received will be declared in the financial report.
The Club aims to abide by the rules and regulations laid down by England Squash, the governing body for Squash in the United Kingdom
3. Membership & Finance
Membership of the Club will be open to all persons on application, regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, or other beliefs :
The Club uses the facilities at Bridlington Leisure Centre, (Part of East Riding Yorkshire Council).
An annual membership fee is required from Club members. The Club’s Committee will determine this fee, to be ratified at an AGM and is responsible for its collection, juniors are free.
The Club’s Committee members shall receive no direct, or indirect payment, except for legitimate expenses incurred in connection with Club business
Any profit made by the Club must be retained within the club for use in line with the Aims and Objectives of the Club. Profits may not be distributed to any member.
The Clubs financial year will end on 31st December.
Competitions include; The Club’s Annual Closed Competitions, Various Organised Events and Bridlington Mini Leagues and Ladders, Local Representative Leagues – Humber & York. Please refer to the Club rules for details.
Annual subscription entitles members entry into the Mini Leagues, ladder, club competitions and to represent Bridlington Squash in the local district leagues. Players pay for courts by booking through Bridlington Leisure Centre. The Mini Leagues are managed by a nominated Club member.
Members who compete in The Humber Squash League and York & District League representing Bridlington Squash will pay additional fees per game.
A list of all players competing in competitions will be kept by the Chair/Secretary and/or Financial secretary.
4. Committee & Club Officials
The Club’s Committee will consist of the following officers.
Chair / Secretary / Treasurer
Other roles (ideally there will be committee members to address these functions directly): Media/IT, Club Development, Juniors, Social, Ladies, Maintenance, Welfare, Captains, Sponsorship.
The committee ideally will be made up of a maximum of 8 individuals, with as wide a mix of representation as possible
A quorum of 5 will be required for business at all meetings
Committee meetings to occur on a bi-monthly basis
The committee will be responsible for adopting new policy, codes of conduct and rules that effect the organisation of the club
The committee will be responsible for the disciplinary hearings of members who infringe the club rules/constitution/regulations. The committee also have the right to suspend, cancel or refuse membership for conduct that is deemed detrimental to the club, its members, or its reputation, including but not limited to breaches of club rules, non-payment of fees, abusive or discriminatory behaviour, or actions that bring the club into disrepute.
The committee has the powers to raise sub-committees as necessary and appoint advisors to fulfil its business.
All committee members agree to adhere to a code of conduct that respects the views and opinions of fellow committee members. Any committee member acting in a manner deemed inappropriate shall be suspended.
5. Annual General Meetings
The Annual General Meeting shall be called to elect Officers and Committee Members for the ensuing year, to receive a report from the Chairperson and to carry out business as may be deemed necessary.
All full members and honorary members shall have equal voting powers. Students and Junior members have no voting powers.
The members, at an Annual General Meeting shall have the power to rescind or vary any Rule of the Club and to substitute others in their place thereof. Any proposed changes in the Club Constitution must be proposed and seconded in Committee.
6. Closure Of Club
If for any reason the club should fold then all monies in the bank account will be donated to the RNLI in Bridlington.
